I fell in love with Hanoi, Vietnam, almost as soon as I arrived.
It might be because of the constant rush of life in all directions, or how kind everyone was, or because of the incredible food found down every alleyway. But I have a feeling that these morning markets might have something to do with it.
The best time of day to catch my favorite Hanoi morning market (and the lively, energetic crowd of women who frequent it) is as close to sunrise as you can manage. I usually turned up around 7am, a little sleepy but held over by the near promise of Vietnamese coffee to come.
Without a kitchen to speak of, there wasn’t much I could do but wander and watch, but I loved the energy of the place so much that I returned multiple times during my stay. It just felt so alive.
