It sprawled pages, a storm of ideas and to-do’s that I had unknowingly collected over the years under the guise of “someday.” Previously strung along in my head, wandering thought by in-transit daydream, the list in its new tangible form became real in a way that I could have never anticipated.
Exactly four weeks from today, I’ll be boarding a plane that will take me to Reykjavik, Iceland. It is the first stop on an adventure that I expect to span three continents and at least as many months, a sprawling narrative that (I hope) will knit itself together as the days come by.
In an effort to truly embrace the adventure (or in a stunning display of naiveté), I’ll be leaving without the usual anchors that call for return – slipping loose from my job, my apartment, and a majority of what I own.
Now is the time to explore. There are so many stories to be heard, breakfast foods to be eaten, beaches to be napped on, cities to get lost in, Thai iced coffees to be drank, and sources of inspiration to be found.
Through it all, I’ll be here – documenting each place discovered for you on WGW. I sincerely hope you come along for the ride. I have a feeling it’s going to be a good one.
And of course, I’d love your recommendations, suggestions, and words of wisdom. Take a look at the list of where I’ll be traveling, and tell me:
What should I eat? Where should I go? What should I see?
And if your favorite place in the world isn’t on there, tell me that, too.
In order of arrival… tentatively:
London, United Kingdom
