In Hanoi, many of the oldest and most storied coffee shops are grouped together on the same street in the Old Quarter, Nguyen Huu Huan. The storefronts start to blur together after a few blocks, but there’s delicious coffee to be found if you know where to look.
I used the January chill hanging over Hanoi as an excuse to sample as much Vietnamese coffee as possible, trying everything from egg coffee to kopi luwak and every other kind of bean I could get brewed in a phin.
One of my favorites was the coffee with coconut milk from Cong Caphe, and I happened to love the atmosphere there almost as much as I loved the coffee. Taken together, it made for the perfect Sunday morning with friends.
