I used to shop all the time, buy a ton of random stuff… and then still feel like I had nothing to wear two days later. Part of that was because I hadn’t figured out my style yet (and was coming home with everything from palm-printed jumpsuits to elegant silk button downs), but part of it was because I never went shopping with a plan.
When I started narrowing down my closet and figuring out my signature style, it became easy to start picking out what needed to go, what I should keep, and what I still wanted to add.
One of the “add” pieces that I’ve been keeping an eye out for was a lightweight spring coat. I wanted something easy, a pocketed daytime piece that could do double-duty as an evening jacket if needed.
Something pretty, but functional, and easy. Did I mention I wanted it to be easy? I hate thinking about coats. I just want them to go with everything so I can get out the door and be done with it.
And then I found this. Hello, spring.
The coat’s maker, a gorgeous brand called Modern Citizen, is a new San Francisco-based label that I can’t get enough of. You can see the rest of their collection at their site here.
